YENİ SÖMÜRGECİLİK – UYGARLAŞTIRMA VE KALKINMA: FRANSA’NIN ÇIKARLARI SORUNU

Avrupalı emperyalist devletler, “keşifler” çağından sonra farklı ülke ve bölgelere erişim sağlayarak etki alanlarını arttırdı ve sömürge faaliyetlerini genişletti. Sömürge güçlerine karşı direnişin zayıf kalmasında ekonomik ve teknolojik zayıflıklar ve gelişmemiş devlet yapıları rol oynadı. Batılı sömürge güçleri, kendi sömürge faaliyetlerini bir medeniyet götürme/ “uygarlaştırma misyonu” olarak nitelendirdi. Sömürge faaliyetlerinde farklı araç ve taktikler kullandılar. Bundan ekonomik olarak büyük kazanç sağladılar. Afrika ve Fransa örneği konunun bir metafor olarak anlaşılması bakımından önemlidir. Bu çalışma sömürgeci mantığı çerçevesinde Fransız sömürge güçlerin kullandığı birçok araçtan “ırkçılık”, “dil milliyetçiliği” ve “baskı-şiddet-terör” unsurlarını analiz etmeyi ve bunun ekonomik sonuçlarını anlamayı amaçlamaktadır.
